Welcome!

As an aspiring sports journalist and possibly front office man, I'm starting my own blog where I will discuss various football topics every week. Here I will be giving my own analysis and thoughts on teams' needs, the 2010 NFL Draft, and other football-related news. I welcome anyone to post their own thoughts and feel free to ask any and all questions you have. If I don't know the answer right away, I'll be sure to find it.

  2. I'm a huge Patriots fan, but I'm going to remain as unbiased as possible. take a look at my recap in the first post.

As far as the Pats' outlook for 2010:

I think the offense was definitely overrated and did not have enough playmakers utilized in the best ways. I think Watson continues to be forgotten in this offense despite his physical skills, although his hands can't always be counted on. I think he'll be gone this off-season. The Pats really need an influx of talent at the receiver and running back positions. I think they need a guy that can be a possession receiver with size and speed to also draw some coverage downfield.

Defensively, the Patriots need a heavy upgrade in their front seven. I really hope Brace comes around and can play much better this season and see the field. If the team continues to play a 3-4, Wilfork absolutely needs to be re-signed. If they plan to move to a 4-3, I would franchise him and trade him for at least a 2nd round pick.

The Pats need to target some pass rushing talent at both the defensive line and linebacker positions. I really like Brandon Graham of Michigan. Based on reports and some film I've seen, he was extremely productive against good teams and has some versatility to play outside in a 3-4 or with his hand in the dirt in a 4-3.

The secondary's problems I think are a bit overblown simply because opposing quarterbacks had all day to throw. Meriweather needs to become more consistent and I think the rotation of he, McGowan, Sanders, and Chung is solid. Bodden should be retained and Wilhite should be no more than a nickel corner. I think Butler should be given a chance to start with Springs in the mix as well.

With 4 picks in the first two rounds, the Pats have a great chance to pick up talented guys at good values. But with Belichik's penchant for missing on second rounders (Bethel Johnson, Chad Jackson, Terrence Wheatley), I really hope this year is different.
